Anatomy studies at uni... working with cadaver materials...?We Answered:
There's no reason to be "wierded out" by working with human cadavers. Bear in mind that these individuals donated their remains to science so they could give something useful to help society. Be respectful of your "subject" and respect their final wishes by learning from their gift so that you will be able to help others with the knowledge you gain.Oh, and from personal experience try not to get anatomy lab right before lunch... and, if it does get scheduled that way anyway, don't order a tuna sandwich.... trust me on that one. You just don't want to do it...

I'm entering speech pathology program in the fall and...?We Answered:
If you can find one, pick up a book on the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and learn the symbols and the sounds associated with them. This will give you a jump on running transcription in your artic phonetics class. If you have studied physics already, you'll be good to go with hearing science and acoustic phonetics.
Check out diagrams of the respiratory tract and study the names of the structures (including all muscles). Ones by Netter are the best; he was a physician and medical illustrator.

Has anyone clepped out of College Algebra? We Answered:
It's a no brainer to try and CLEP out of it. Worst case scenario, you don't pass and you have to take the class. In which case you are that much better prepared for the class. Make sure your school accepts CLEP credits first. Find out what your school's 'minimum qualifying score' is for that test. Some are as low as 50%, which you can almost guess and get right. I CLEP'd out of Chem 101 and History. I hate both of those, but I had taken enough classes on those subjects that I figured I'd try. Focus on strategy: Now that CLEP is on computer, points ARE NOT deducted for wrong or skipped answers. This means that you should do your best to supply an answer for each question on a CLEP exam. Good luck!
