Speech Therapy Aids
Wallace Said:
what is the difference between speech aid and speech therapy? We Answered:
A speech aid is something (a device, etc.) that helps someone communicate like an electrolarynx (also known as a digital speech aid for a laryngectomee). Speech therapy is the treatment of communication disorders.Hope this is helpful!

Can't understand speech unless we are face to face?We Answered:
its not your hearing, it is lost of focus. When you had surgery they probably harmed the focusing part of your brain. There are many focusing practices that will improve your focus,Clifford Said:
hi does anyone has a child who uses hearing aids and also receives ?We Answered:
Ignore the guys that say u fail at life. yeah its in the wrong catergory. get over it. I had a friend who had hearing aids in elementry school, and also had speech therapy during quiet study time. i think it was because he couldn't understand very well so he mispronounced words alot. thats atleast what my mom told me (it was like 2nd grade). i would say it's pretty normal.i think it posted wrong because of the word aids, it could have been in the childrens catergory, but no matter.

Can a parent refuse their handicap child from attending school? We Answered:
I think the answer to this question is pretty simple in that a major part of school is the social aspects of learning. For any child special or not school teaches a child a lot when it comes to interacting with others. No parent ever wants anything bad to happen to their child. But keeping a child away from others with only diminish their ability to function in the real world. At some point parents have to put their selfish feelings(i say selfish in a good way) aside and do what is best for the child. Keeping the child away from the world is the worst thing to do to a child especially one with special needs. It's a struggle but in the long run it will be best for the child.Darren Said:
hi, does any anyone has a child who uses hearing aids for speech? We Answered:
Well, I have a hearing disability, though a small one, and the audiologist kept pressuring me to get hearing aids, though I flat out refused and told them I would smash them if they made me get them. So, they gave in and said my hearing wasn't THAT bad, and I didn't REALLY need that bad, so I got off.
I have had speech therapy, and that wasn't so bad. Mostly, they would use mirrors and make us practice how we shaped our lips and moved our tongues when we talked.
My teacher's granddaughter had gotten cochlear implants though and they made a world of difference to her. I think if she needs it, then do it.
Hearing aids can be a bit ehh, because I will admit I was horrified that I would have to use them, and there is a chance of them being lost, or damaged or ruined.

Mild hearing loss in 2 year old son?We Answered:
With a mild hearing loss speech probably won't be affected. He may leave off plurals and verb endings sometimes, but once he learns to read he will know to put them in because he will have seen them in print. Usually it's high frequency sounds that he won't hear well. That's s, th, p, h. The rest of the sounds should get through loud and clear. But you would need to ask the doctor to confirm that as every hearing loss is different. As it is mild he may not be prescribed aids, or if he is, they should bring the loss almost to normal.Learning to read using 'sounding out' may be challenging, but he'll get there.
You may need to teach him the following:
to control the volume of his voice - tell him when he is shouting
to look at faces for lip pattern, expression and body language
to ask when he doesn't understand and
to use his hearing to the max.
Play hearing games.
Turn him away and ask him to take a bunny jump away whenever he hears ...( a word, sound, rhyme).
Play I-spy
Hide a radio and ask him to locate it
Someone should help you with all this, a social worker, preschool teacher of hearing impaired or doctor. And get him into a school or preschool asap.

I am looking for low cost Christmas gifts for teachers, aids, and therapists in a total of 30 in all.?We Answered:
If you do any kind of scrapbooking then you know the techniques. Use the techniques to make bookmarks. They are easy to make and will cost very little. When you are talking about 30 people even $5.00 a person adds up very fast. You can make the bookmarks for under a dollar a piece. If you do not know how to make them then maybe check a scrapbooking store. I bought just one to use as a guide and then made several of my own to give as gifts.
Here are a couple of link to see pictures. You can make them even simpler then these though. This first one includes instructions in case you are new to it: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_paper_crafts…
