I really want to do the masters in speech and language therapy, does this sound like enough experience?

We Answered:

I would check the requirements for your desired degree in the catalog of the school(s) of your choice.

Singing/ voice teacher and lessons?

We Answered:

Erm, if he doesn't teach the classical style then how is he supposed to teach students the proper techniques? No matter what style a singer wants to do, he/she has to start from a classical foundation. The classical technique is the set of skills that will help you preserve your voice for the longest time, and it's the most natural way that your body makes sound. After you master these techniques, you can go and sing whatever you want and have the comfort of knowing that you won't be blowing your voice out within a few years (and no, learning classical technique doesn't mean that you will sound like an opera singer). That's why personally, I'm a little wary about teachers who refuse to teach classical singing at all in their studios.

However, the fact that he's a voice pathologist may be advantageous in terms of preventing/diagnosting vocal problems early. Is it possible for you to take a trial lesson with him before deciding if he's a good fit for you? Sometimes the chemistry between teacher and student is more important than any accolades/degrees that the teacher has. If you can't even feel comfortable singing to your teacher, how is he/she supposed to help you?

Good luck!

Hello, If I am referring to Occupational Therapy(OT) and abbreviate as such?

We Answered:

You should refer to "occupational therapist" without the abbreviation.
