Speech therapists are always in demand. There never seem to be enough to go around. Speech therapy is a huge field that covers everything from very young children learning to talk, correcting articulation through senior citizens who have had strokes who are learning to talk again and everything in between (stutter, accent reduction, swallowing). It is a big wide open field the needs more really good trained people. To become a speech therapist you need a bachelors degree and then you go to grad. school for usually about 2 years to get a Masters in speech pathology then you have to work as a paid intern for a number of hours before you are fully certified. I think it is a great field to considering where you can make a huge impact on people's lives.
