Speech Therapy Class
Samantha Said:
why did educators use class time for speech therapy? We Answered:
Because in the public school setting, if you want such services to be provided, then speech therapy has to take place during school hours. It cannot take place after school or before school. That is, unless you want to pay for them or find some way to finance them at home after school.Nobody said special education is all nice. Parents are supposed to be informed during the sp. ed. meeting that one of the evils of sp. ed. (and speech therapy) is that the kid will have to be pulled out of the classroom to be serviced at the expense of possibly missing some instruction.
On the other hand, private schools are not required to provide sp. ed. and not forced to admit kids with special needs. Theoretically, a parent who could afford private school should be able to pay for speech therapy out of pocket.
