Speech Therapy Education
Carla Said:
I am a career changer interested in education and speech pathology.?We Answered:
Great response from the person above, I can reply as a school-based speech therapist if you're interested in going that route....1. caring, energetic, organized, flexible
Schools are great if you prefer working with kids and other caring adults. Populations can vary greatly depending on specific special needs classrooms in each school. But the diversity also keeps things interesting. Common issues include articulation, receptive/expressive language, voice, fluency, and pragmatics. Drawbacks include: caseloads are typically high, lots of paperwork, sometimes parents can be nasty.
As mentioned above, check out www.ASHA.org for a complete list of accredited programs by state. You may need to take a bunch of prerequisites prior to a masters program.
Good luck!

im a respiratory therapist. what is the best continous education for respiratory therapist? We Answered:
I am a resp therapist and a PT. I am amazed at the overlap in knowledge. I think it would be a great assest to becoming an SLP. I think you should contact the national speech association. www. asha.org. You will need some pre reqs. You can get a BS in communication disorders. Here is a link to one such program.http://cdswebserver.med.buffalo.edu/drup…
Best wishes

Should parents let the school choose the best course of education for there child or make there input heard? We Answered:
Well i definatley think you ought to have a say. im not sure how old your daughter is but if there is something she wants from the school that she is not getting, then i absolutely think you should be able to do something about it. they should here what you have to say and pay attention to it. it's parents like you that pay their salaries.
