Speech Therapy Exercise

Mathew Said:

my 3 and a half year old boy is having speech therapy ?

We Answered:

I'm not saying your husband is wrong, BUT I can tell you that if you discontinue the speech therapy against the therapist's advice if you find he needs more you'll be very lucky to get it any time soon.

Lance Said:

How do I stop my daughter from sounding like she is talking through her nose?

We Answered:

Take her to an ear/nose/throat specialist...sounds like she may have an adnoid problem. Until then...don't make a big issue of it...she will become self conscious about it

Elaine Said:

college majors for speech therapy?

We Answered:

A speech therapist is someone who holds their Bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders or Speech. You then need to go on to get your Masters to become a speech pathologist. To complete a Speech Pathology Degree takes between 6-7 years. About six years to complete Bachelors and Masters. Then there is a CFY year where the new Speech Pathologist is supervised by a licensed one. At the end, this speech pathologist will earn her CCC (Clinical Competence Certificate) which essentially says they are certified to work with anyone without being supervised. If you want to be certified to work with children ages 3-18 you will need to get a license to practice in most states. This is accomlished by taking a few more select courses. As for what major, I would recommend Bachelor's in Speech. This will drastically reduce the amount of time you spend getting your masters in speech pathology. If you do not major in speech for Bachelors, then you can easily add on at least a year for masters. It's a long and difficult process but well worth it! Good luck!
