Look for a chapter of SEPTA (Special Ed. PTA) which will help you connect with the right organizations, which can in turn point you toward the help you need. Also check with the guidance counselors at school because they sometimes have good connections to specialists.

Normally when a speech eval does the evaluation they generally just play with the child.. They get them to talk about things that interest them and they take a lot of notes.... They have a huge notebook and they are listening for all the sounds that the child makes while pronouncing the names of things.. They have a set of cards with the names and pictures of things so it's easier for your child to understand at this age. I know this is distressing you but there is no need to worry.. Speech will be so fun for your little one at this age that the stuttering will be gone in no time..

Some medications that other stutterers have tried include lorazepam, citalopram, celexa, and buspar. Ask your doctor about trying an anti-anxiety medication while you are working on your stuttering. Be aware that your stuttering may be better than the side-effects of the medication, though.

Each stutterer is different, and a therapist who specializes in treating stuttering will be able to determine what will help you the most as they work with you.
