Speech Therapy Hearing Impaired
Samantha Said:
Having a hearing impaired sibling? We Answered:
Your infant son will never know any differently in how to communicate with his sister. Teach him some signs. Teach him that he has to look her in the face when he's talking to him.I've lost my hearing mostly as an adult and my son doesn't know any differently. We use both speech, signs, and lip reading. Your son will be the same with your daughter. She is who she is and that's how it is. With a 9 year age gap between them she'll be more motherly than sisterly anyway.
Many in the deaf community don't consider deafness a disability. Teach your son that she's different, not disabled.

Parents...How would you deal with this?We Answered:
As someone who is hearing impaired myself, you'd better bet I'd bring it up. If the rest of the class is up there singing, she can be up there singing too. There's no rule that everyone has to sing perfectly, and I bet there are more than a few tone deaf kids up there and who are still allowed to sing. She can watch the person conducting just as well as everyone else, can follow along and sing. If every other student is up there, she should be too.Jose Said:
I feel so embarrassed because of my speech. I am hearing impaired? We Answered:
My dear "chocolate Lover"....( I love chocolate as well...)Well...it's just like "Misz Loca" has mentioned, honey....Just be proud of who you are. I am sure, you're a kind individual and a beautiful person. You should NOT care ...-nor- "worry" about, what some ignorant fools "do ---or- think"!! They're NOT..."paying your bills"...- You get my point???
I think, you have accomplished a whole lot and I am proud of your achievements, so keep your head up high, sweety !!! You have absolutely NO reason to feel desperate ...-or-... desolate, honey !! Just keep up your studies, so you'll get good grades and will be able to attend college. Once you've made it to college, you'll find more mature folks, who will NOT "make fun of you" !!!
I wish you all the best for the future...and don't ever stop believing in your <self>, honey! Greetings from Germany along with all my love & care...your friend...Annette***
