Get my kid to behave at school? We Answered:
He sounds spoiled. True, your son has had some challenges but many kids do. He is healed and over it and should be able to focus. It sounds like he has learned that his bad behavior is acceptable just because he is behind. An injury or illness is NOT an excuse to act this way. If he does not learn appropriate behavior, then he is going to go through an even harder time when he gets older. It sounds to me like you are way too nice to him. HE IS SIX! A 6 year old really should not be this hard to control. Stop making excuses for him and stop babying him. Tell him "Do what I tell you or you are going to be spanked." and if he doesn't listen SPANK HIM! If you don't discipline now this is just going to get worse. Many times moms are afraid to get tough with a kid and feel guilty. Just because your son is behind in school and had had injuries DOES NOT mean he should be allowed to make your life miserable and it sounds like this is exactly what you are letting him do! Do you run this kid's life or does he run yours?
Sounds to me like he maybe needs a good father figure too! I almost never spank my kids but THEY KNOW better than this...A 6 year old having a temper tantrums is pathetic, seriously. I stopped putting up with this around age 4 with my kids! I see other parents letting their kids throw a screaming fit in public. There is no excuse for this! I would just take him home, put the kid over my knee and give him a spanking! I have done this with my kids and it works better than anything! You have tried the nice approach and obviously he isn't listening. If you don't dicipline him he will end up doing even worse in school and being a rebel later or even violent. So unless you want a bratty, uneducated, spoiled and out of control kid, TAKE ACTION NOW!
Most kids these days don't have ADHD, ADD or whatever, they are just spoiled and a product of weak parents. Doctors will give medication, even if the kid doesn't have ADHD. Medication is for sick people and not a substitute for parenting and dicipline. So you can throw medication at him or you can try the old fashioned way which has 1000's of years of success! SPANK HIM!!!
