Toni Said:

My Son is almost three and started to stutter. What is the wise/smart thing to do?

We Answered:

Your best source of help for stuttering, especially with a young child is the non-profit Stuttering Foundation of America. Check out www.stutteringhelp.org and you will find tips for parents of ways they can help, if and when a child needs to see a speech therapist who specializes in treating stuttering, a list of referrals to specialists all over the world, online videos, helpful books you can find at your library, and the causes of stuttering.

Thelma Said:

Making a choice for a good school for my developmentally delayed kindergarten age son?

We Answered:

I am not too sure. This is a good question that I will be looking into myself in September. Here is what I think. This is only my experience. I really don't think it is as much about the school either public or private as much as it is about the people who will be teaching your son. The private school can have excellent paid teachers and an excellent reputation but if the teachers are ones that don't really care and have no patients and do not spend the extra time and do not give your son the extra TLC he needs to succeed, then all that tuition is for nothing! Now the public school may have teachers who receive horrible pay, Have long hours etc... but they may have teachers who take the time and put in the extra effort to help your son...or vise versa. So I really think it is going to come down to a personal choice. If I were you I would tour both schools and ask to meet personally the teachers who may possibly aid in the care of your son or teach him. Then I would go with the school you felt had more educators you felt comfortable with...believe me you know right away! I really wish you the best of luck.
