I use this service and they send everything to my house by ups and pick it up. It's free...but I don't know where you are from...you may have one too. Books & videos on anything to do with deafness and hard of hearing...coping, learning, and fun stuff like movies too.

I am HOH and my family mainstreamed me. They didn't catch on to my problem till I was in my 20's. I had a 70/70 bilateral loss. But I had surgery to correct it a little. Best thing is to get educated. I wish I had known about deaf culture before I had the surgeries. I did not adjust well. I never knew other kids like me. There is a lot of help out there. You can ask me anything at my 360 page blog(it has an email option under the photo). Good Luck!

I am interested in occupational therapy or speech pathology for Masters. I have a B/A in Sociology. Choices?

We Answered:

i am actually going into that field although i am not at the point of applying for a graduate school i have talked to many about what is needed to get admissions into a speech pathology program and prerequisites are definitely required along with the GRE. I would suggest completing them at a community college it shouldn't take you long and it would be cheaper just make sure the credits would be accepted in the graduate program you are interested in applying to.

Karl Said:

what college classes do you need for Occupational thearpest?

We Answered:

Both the programs you're looking for require graduate degrees. You'll have to take the prerequisite courses during your undergraduate program - some schools may have audiology as a degree to help get into the speech therapy field - kinesiology, biology, or exercise science are good undergrad degrees for Occupational therapy. If you check with a couple of websites for the graduate programs, they should list the requirements for admission - you'll probably notice a trend in the amount of science, math, etc., needed, and the types of courses. Some schools may also have a 5 year combined undergrad/MS program - I think that University of Illinois at Chicago has one in OT.
