Katherine Said:

I need help very badly.?

We Answered:

Eric, the good thing here is that you are only 16 years old and you have recognized that you have a problem - I really thing you should address your problem with your parents so they will be able to help and support you.

Compulsive lying is not a mental disorder but a symptoms of either depression or obsessive compulsive disorder. This may require medication and therapy and you would need the help of your parents to be treated. Let them know so they can take you to the Md so you can start with recovery.

If they blow you off, why not go to the Md on your own or wait until you are 18 years old and will be in charge of own health.

And as far as this girl you want so badly and to spend the rest of your life with, how do you know this without experiencing life and getting yourself together first. I feel that you are not rationally thinking at this moment - you need to get yourself better before committing to anything

my daughter is 2 and half years old.she tells all the words in english.(table, chair etc).?

We Answered:

I don't think she needs speech therapy. It sounds like she's progressing pretty well. It's just that she hasn't been able to pick up on those other words yet. My son is almost 2 and a half and can say ABC and sometimes he'll say 123 other times he'll just say 1-2 or I'll go 1-2 and he'll go 3. Toddlers like babies develop differently. Maybe just try to teach her kids are like a sponge about this age just keep trying to tell her that you are mommy and daddy is daddy. Tell her her name over and over like "your name is...." Hope I helped ease your mind a little bit. It's nothing to be worried over though. She sounds really bright.

Speech Delays in Children...?

We Answered:

Wow! I am amazed. When I read your question, I thought someone had peeked into my life. Eight months ago, my 3 y.o. son could only speak a handful of words clearly and used a catch-all word for every other want/need he had...incidentally, the catch-all word sounded like he was saying "good day" or "g'day". We were always guessing at what he needed or wanted and it got very frustrating at times. So, I know how you must be feeling...no worries though, there's help.

Anyway, to make a long story short. There is a program in almost every state specifically designed by & for special needs families called Parent Information Network. The program helps families like yours & mine who are challenged by children's mental, emotional, and behavioral needs. It helps us to connect to services in the community and to other parents in the same type of circumstances. It's very empowering, especially facing such an intimidating situation like this.

I encourage you to look them up. Do a search on the internet to find out more about the program specific to your location.

Oh! A couple more things. When you speak to her, let her see you speak. Exaggerate your enunciation. It may seem silly at first, but it helps. It really does. Also, when teaching her a new word...say for instance "ball"...emphasize the "b" sound...and try to get her to copy that specific sound "b...b...b". Then repeat the word...eventually she will get it. I still do this daily with my son. Fifteen to twenty minutes is about how long their attention span is, so anything more than that & they tune us out. (lol...which is quite funny to them! lol)

This may all seem overwhelming to you right now, but once you know what is available to you & your daughter, you'll be able to put the frustration behind you. Good Luck!!!!

Can you get rid of a lisp from removable braces?

We Answered:

I had the same problem, the only thing i can suggest is to practice speaking. Maybe try tongue twisters or something similar every night. But naturally it will go. I see no reason why you should waste your money on speech therapy. Hope i have been of some help, and good luck getting rid of your lisp.
