What do u do in speech therapy?

We Answered:

I doubt they would use tools like that to strengten your muscles at your age. If your oral muscles still need strengthening, now that you're older they will likely explain exercies you can do yourself to strengthen your muscles.

My sister is graduating college. What should I get her as a present? (Major: SLP)?

We Answered:

A briefcase-- seriously.
There are so many settings she could work in, and a briefcase comes in really handy if she works home health or nursing homes, for example. It can be used to carry a laptop, but she won't be using a personal one much, as patient records are confidential medical records and cannot leave the facility. Paperwork is the bane of any rehab professional!
We use lots of tools that can be carried from place to place-- especially rehab activities, books used in therapy and supplies.

Is my 5 year old on track?

We Answered:

My son is in 1st grade. Don't fret too much about what your daughter needs to know before kindergarten. My son learned all of his letters and numbers in preschool...and then he learned all of his letters and numbers again in Kindergarten!! Every day he came home with a letter to write 5 times capital on lower case, and then he came home with numbers to write. Then he had to cut out pictures that started with that letter (to learn the sounds). It is just a more intense preschool! They made collages for colors. Throughout the year, they learned "sight words"....of, and, it, we, see, the...but they didn't have to know how to write them. All I would concentrate on between now and september is trying to get him to write his name, but even that they will practice in kindergarten. As far as reading, if you are reading to her at home, she will be a fine reader I'm sure.

My Top 100 Favorite Albums Of The 00's (Rate, Hate, Debate)?

We Answered:

I don't listen to 2000s stuff nearly as much as 90s or 80s but I think I still know enough and this list does well but how come there ain't Cube's "Raw Footage" or Geto Boys' "The Foundation", for instance? Just some of my favorites.

Need help with going back to college?

We Answered:

Honey, I'm not so great at math either. I just took my CPAT, and passed, because I made up for my math in the other two subjects. Right now, I'm going back for my Associates of science in logistics.

My advice?

Pick something that you know you'll love doing for the rest of your life. On the other hand, if you find out you don't like it anymore, you can always change majors. But find a school that has programs for what you want to do and GO FOR IT!!!

good luck to you!
