Sixteen month old daughter not talking?

We Answered:

First off, all children develop at their own pace. I wouldn't be so quick as to worry something is wrong. She responds to simple commands.

Also, why would she need to learn to use words, when all her slightest whims are easily given to her when she makes a grunt, a moan, a whimper, etc? If it were as simple as ME getting something I want by pointing or grunting, heck - I'd do it too.

My daughter is 3, and she's a chatterer. She was talking early on. My son, who is 19 months - on the other hand has taken his time. He only says a few words as it is, right now. Soon, she'll be on a vocal explosion, and all your worries will be for naught. Just encourage her speaking to you. Hold conversations with her. Point out objects, like "See the doggy?" and "You want juice?" while showing it to her.

I used to have a lisp and now it is gone. Can they just away?

We Answered:

Well great for you, I wish I could get rid of mine. A lisp has to do with several things. length/shape/movement of tongue, jaw shape and teeth. I had the worst lisp growing up till I was about 7. I still have one that is not so noticeable but it's still there. Yeah sure it can go away, you grew, you're jaw grew, your teeth might've moved in closer, you might've gained control of the angle your tongue is when speaking (something I can't do). So there are many possibilities. All I can say is that it is a great thing you don't have a lisp anymore.

could my toddler be having seizures????Read on.......?

We Answered:

I didn't think that you were describing a seizure until the reaction in the hospital and that does sound like a seizure with the eyes rolling back and getting stiff.

As far as loss of bowel control, that does happen but more with grand mal seizures which it doesn't sound like.

There are several different types of seizures. Suggest seeing a pediatric neurologist. I'd want an EEG done, he shouldn't need to be knocked out for that, they just put electrodes all over the head when he is asleep.

Help for my teen son??

We Answered:

i have a 14yr old son that has adhd... and let me start by saying u need a meeting at his school and have a talk with ALL the teachers... if hes having a problem with one of the teachers then they need to move him or someone needs to teach that teacher how to deal with a child with adhd. i had the same problem with my son last yr. and come to find out he (my son) didnt care because that 1 teacher was making him look bad in front of everyone anyways. well i had a run in with the teacher. it was a ugly meeting and i told him what i thought of his teaching skills. well he was wrote up.. and this year my son is doing great. he has that teacher but instead of my son having i dont care attitude he has i will show u i can pass ur class cause even if u dont think i can i know i can and my parents know it too. sit down and talk (not yell) to ur son ask him what can be changed to better the problem. i bet he has an answer but just waitin to see who will help him... hes a teenager and has enough to deal with in life and im sure he would like it to be better. goodluck

Hey buds, I wondered how do make or attach links to your R & P questions or answers?

We Answered:

Hi

What You do is go to Youtube (Or wherever Your link may be from) turn that puppy on, the left click the address bar at the top of the screen and hit "copy" then when You're ready to post Your link just left click the empty area You want the link in and hit "paste" simple as that.
The "Coffee Breaks" are pretty annoying but You'll get used to them in time.
And I don't think anyone is too worried about perfect punctuation. As long as You don't try typing You're Q and A "LyKe tHiS" You should be fine.
And yes that's normal for Yahoo to suggest categories for Your Q's that are usually as totally irrelevant to the Q as possible...lol. Yahoo tries to put My Music Q's in Gay & Lesbian a lot, which never fails to amuse Me.

Hope I was of some help, and Welcome to our little R&P Section.
