Neil Said:
How many words should my 3 year old know? And what do I do to encourage him to speak? We Answered:
My son is turning 3 in July and for the longest time I thought something was wrong with him. He would babble incoherently and I thought for sure he'd be slow. Then one day...he started repeating things. He would listen very intently and then say what he heard. It was jumbled and didnt sound completely right, but it works.Theres nothing wrong with your baby, he's got to go at his own pace. As long as you know he can hear and understand you, don't worry. He'll get it. Just make sure while you're doing things like taking a bath and other things you chat with him "We're gonna clean your arms now, cleaning your arms. Do you want to clean your arms?" and eventually he will start repeating. Boys are stubborn about talking!
