Speech Therapy Worksheets

Frank Said:

im looking for worksheets or something i can use with a stroke victim at home for speech therapy?

We Answered:

It isn't that simple. There's a reason why speech therapists must have a MASTER'S DEGREE to provide therapy. The person with the stroke must get therapy from someone truly trained to provide it.

If the stroke victim has inadequate or discontinued insurance, and does not yet qualify for Medicaid and/or Medicare, then funding for this therapy may be a problem. However...

Find the closest university with a Speech Pathology program, and sign up the stroke victim there. Usually, univeristy programs will be discounted, or even free in some cases, because the therapy is being provided by closely supervised practicum students rather than licensed therapists (like having an intern work on you at a teaching hospital).

If the stroke victim has insurance that covers it, or is receiving Medicaid or Medicare, there are licensed therapy providers available. They may provide you with exercizes to do at home, but the selection of those exercizes, and the intensive therapy, must be provided by the speech therapist.

Esther Said:

Some weird things happened in my High School years?

We Answered:

Did they tell you what your diagnosis was, or the reason you needed services. Speech therapists treat speech and language but also treat social-pragmatics, attention, sometimes reading, memory, reasoning. Some therapists have natural conversation or play games rather than drilling students to death (it's torture for the therapist, too). I don't know about the other info (age required to attend meetings) but I think you have a right to know what your "deficits" are. Ask your parents or guidance counselor.
