Bariatric Surgery Ontario
Susan Said:
Why would Ontario ministry of health alot $75 million dollars for Bariatric surgery. treatment for@1400 ppl.?We Answered:
I can well imagine your strong feelings on this subject. Your government is spending so much on obesity, yet ignoring the most basic needs of the population in general.Obesity has become such an obvious problem in western countries. All of our governments are trying to overcome an attitude from the east that we in the west are greedy, power hungry, over fed, selfish and nasty.
This is the reason for the current spending on Bariatric surgical treatments. It is a decision based on politics and not compassion or care for the people.
The health systems of all of our western countries are failing because of the costs involved in caring for the most wealthy in our societies.
Hospitals are in disarray because no specialists will work in the public system with so much work and so little payment.
Eye and ear clinics have been the first to go in this state. Neither do we have any vascular surgeons, or neurology surgeons in the public hospitals.
The advent of Centres of Excellence and GP Super Clinics is coming ever closer in Australia too. It is the way of future health care policy to overcome the spiralling costs of health care for the weak and the poor by sending them all home to be cared for in the community by under educated, so called registered carers.
I agree with you that some diseases are brought on by our own choices in life and we are left in old age with the sum total of abuse we have done to ourselves. I hesitate to judge others as I too have suffered many medical problems of my own creation. I have, however tried to overcome the bad habits I had as a teenager. I am just another mortal human and I believe we have all made poor choices at times.
