Brain Surgery Recovery

Kristen Said:

what is the recovery time for brain surgery?

We Answered:

Its impossible to say what the recovery time is. A superficial op could be healed with minor physical, mental and emotional disruption. Major surgery can leave huge mental and physical scars and takes years to recover fully from

Jesse Said:

Do you think it's wrong to divorce when your husband if he had brain surgery and he's in recovery?

We Answered:

Don't do it while he's in the middle of recovery. Wait til he's stable and out of the hospital. If you ever did love him, then you'd not want to do anything that could shake him up at such a vulnerable time. That would be pretty cold-hearted.

I find the timing pretty odd... why haven't you done it sooner? Five years is a very long time to wait. Are you now concerned that you'll get strapped with some medical bills?

Leslie Said:

Can brain surgery affect your personality?

We Answered:

Sounds like you have the post op blues. This can happen after any surgery. Now speaking of the brain...yes you might be having a little more trouble with your emotions. Anytime the brain is operated on the personality can be affected. Give it a little more time and be sure to mention what you are feeling to your Dr.
God bless hun and GL

James Said:

why do brain surgery paients go to the icu instead of the recovery room?

We Answered:

Not all brain surgery patients go to the ICU, some can actually stay at the Intermediate Care Unit.

The issue behind the decision comes from the possible complications behind the surgery. For example, any brain surgery can cause a hemorrhage, and intracranial bleeding effects can be devastating. A Surgery near the stem can cause respiratory failure, etc.

This complications need to be addressed immediately, that's why it is important to have a permanent monitoring over the patient which can only be had in the ICU

Jeanette Said:

Recovery after major brain surgery... help!?

We Answered:

The loss of movement is likely to be caused by the swelling of the brain from the surgery. I'm not sure if it's temporary or permanent. You should talk to a doctor to get the most accurate information, esp. your uncle's doctor since he operated on him and will know best.

I wish I could help you more. All the best :)
