The first interpretation of your x-ray may have been by a general ER doc. The ENT specialist may have seen something the first reading missed. (Or not, hard to tell). Depending on the curvature you may have sinus problems without surgery (be careful with cosmetic reasons because insurance compaines balk at paying cosmetically-related surgeries). Your parents are aware of this.

As far as anesthesia, you may have some constipation for a day or 2, eat fiber and drink liquids. Some people are tired and groggy for a day or two, some not. May have dry mouth. Make sure you are urinating and your bowels are moving. Medical professionals will monitor that before you leave and on your follow-up visits. Just follow doctor's instructions. You will be fine.

Pain is also subjective. You will be tender, but each person's pain tolerance is different.
The medical professionals are very good at assessing and providing pain relief medications. The strip will probably have some sort of accommodation for those who wear glasses.

All in all, be thankful you are getting the surgery now, correcting anything that may cause sinus/breathing problems, and the added benefit of the cosmetic nature.

Just follow physician orders and you will be better than ever in no time, batting 1000.

No. If there is no problem breathing and youre ok with the way it looks, you dont need to have the surgery done. it sounds like it would be purely cosmetic in this case and not necessary for you to live your life to the fullest.

I have worked in surgery for the past 13 years and have seen many broken noses. Yes, unfortunately the post-surgery experience is not pleasant. You will probably be uncomfortable, however, your doctor should prescribe you some pain medication. It will probably be more of a discomfort of having the packing in your nose. Due to the fact that I only work in surgery and do not see the patients in the office when they have the packing removed, I do not have the answer as to whether the packing removal is painful or not. I would assume that it is not pleasant but probably just the discomfort of having a wad of packing pulled out of your nose rather pressure, not pain. You will probably more than likely be healed rather well when the packing comes out anyway. But again I cannot be for sure. As for whether you will be asleep during the surgery depends on you doctor but I can tell you that I have never done a repair of a broken nose that was invasive and needed packing where the patient was awake. i would say you will be out for the count. I wish you well. you'll do fine.

be happy with your nose. if you break it chances are it won't look that nice if you get plastic surgery because what's going to replace your bone part?
even if you don't get the bones broken it wont make a big differences because w.e. shape your nose is it will stay like that.....
and if u really want to get plastic surgery...... just get it... don't make an excuse that's risky
