Cataract Surgery Video

Arthur Said:

Does this make you cry?

We Answered:

Really really good, but some problems:

1) At the 0:06 mark, the caption words don't really make sense in the way you use them, though I understand what you're trying to say. And the photo you show may be Nicaragua, but it's not Tegucigalpa, as is suggested by the previous words at the :02 mark. Tourists don't go there. They go to the islands far away from Tegucigalpa. What you could write instead at the :06 mark is

Many tourists go to Honduras to relax at a tropical resort like this

2) At the :24 mark you misspell Mother Teresa

3) At the :36 mark you misspell challenge

4) At the :42 mark you misspell obstacles

5) At the 1:21 mark the caption doesn't stay on the screen long enough to read the whole thing.

I think that's it.

June Said:

What would a Cataract surgeon be called and how many years of college to become one?

We Answered:

What you're talking about is becoming an ophthalmologist (note: *not* an optometrist). The education and training path is:

4 years of college
4 years of medical school
4 years of ophtho residency

Edit: Ophthalmologists do also prescribe glasses, but that's not all they do and not the main thing they do. They also perform eye surgery, which is what distinguishes them from optometrists (who are *not* surgeons and mainly prescribe glasses and diagnose basic conditions). Whether you choose to focus on the surgical aspect is your career choice. My guess is that ophthos also do the more "mundane" stuff to supplement their practice's income. I'm not sure if there is further subspecialty training required (i.e. a fellowship after residency), but even if there is you would be required first to complete ophtho residency.
