Cosmetic Surgery Breast Augmentation

Marion Said:

Have you attempted suicide and also had cosmetic surgery at some point during your life?

We Answered:

I had breast augmentation when i was 29. i ve never liked my body. having a twin with natural beautiful breast was also very unfortunate . A BET with some male friends was the final blow as i had to strip when loosing the bet, and i did.....from small B cup to a big C cup. BUT when i had to do this stripact i felt as insecure as before this time i totally freaked out about my strechmarks and cellulitis and my spiderveins and i didnt want them to think i had fake breasts so i felt even worse than before......so the fatc that i have nice breasts doesnt take away my insecurity about above facts.......i still have a low selfesteem and I only see the uglyness. outside and inside. I think it is my upbringing i never heared i was beautiful and if guys tell me know they like my breasts i think they are not mine......so it doesnt give my satisfaction. i hope i can have more treatment for above bodyfaults i still belief i will be happy if i have beautiful legs. i want to belief this.

Gordon Said:

Is breast augmentation for transwomen considered a cosmetic surgery?

We Answered:

In most cases NO. The vast majority of transsexual women do not get sufficient breast growth from hormone replacement therapy. On average most only get an A cup. And an A cup on a large male-type rib cage just doesn't cut it. Also an augmentation may be necessary to overcome feelings of dysphoria. That's why I had an augmentation done; I was only a AA after being on HRT 3.5 years. Now I'm a B and I'm quite happy.

The exception are those who start HRT very early, they may avoid the large rib cage. But even then an augmentation may be necessary due to lack of development.

It's not cosmetic. Like the rest of transition, in most cases, it is part of the medical treatment for transsexualism.

Edit: I believe this statement from the Standards of Care says it all:

Sex Reassignment is Effective and Medically Indicated in Severe GID. In persons diagnosed with transsexualism or profound GID, sex reassignment surgery, along with hormone therapy and real-life experience, is a treatment that has been proven effective. Such a therapeutic regimen, when prescribed or recommended by qualified practitioners, is medically indicated and medically necessary. Sex reassignment is not “experimental”, “investigational”, “elective”, “cosmetic”, or optional in any meaningful sense. It constitutes very effective and appropriate treatment for transsexualism or profound GID.

I see that statement as covering ALL of transition. Breast augmentation, FFS and other procedures are listed elsewhere in the SOC. Here's what it says about augmentation:

For male-to-female patients, augmentation mammoplasty may be performed if the physician prescribing hormones and the surgeon have documented that breast enlargement after undergoing hormone treatment for 18 months is not sufficient for comfort in the social gender role.

Cosmetic Surgery... Average cost of a rhinoplasty and a breast augmentation.?

We Answered:

A breast lift and implants is going to run you about $6,000. The rhinoplasty is going to depend on what exactly it is you want to have done. I found a website all about cosmetic surgery that can answer you questions on rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and breast lifts.
