I am writing this letter to inform you that I was extremely shocked when you refused to perform surgery on my mother because you had been informed that she had the flu and a cold sore. She would not begin to think that a doctor of your qualifications and experience would even consider operating on her in that condition, so therefore, three weeks in advance, she called and spoke to Marsha and requested that her surgery be post-poned until she was better. Marsha told my mother that she should be okay by the surgery date and did not change it. In the meantime, not only did my mother not get well, she also happened to get a cold sore, too.In your information booklet you ask that your patients notify your office if there is any sign of a cold or illness. We complied with these instructions by informing your office three weeks prior to surgery, when my mother was stricken with the flu.
I don’t understand why you would refuse to operate on my mother. I sent you an e-mail before my mother’s second consultation and your response was that you would be comfortable performing the surgery on her, at which time we booked another flight, hotel, arranged for a car rental, paid your consultation fee, put down a $500.00 deposit and were out many other expenses as well in order to make the trip to see you for the second time. Had you told us that you would not want to operate on her, we wouldn’t have gone through all the trouble or expense to make the trip.
My mother consulted with eight of the finest doctors in Canada and the United States and out of all of them, she chose you. I have listed the names of the other doctors she has consulted with. Please feel free to contact any of these offices to confirm those consultations.
I would also like to let you know that after my mother was refused by you, the $500.00 deposit was not refunded to us. Because we were led to believe the surgery was still a go, and we put down the deposit in good faith based on your reply, I would like to request that the deposit we lost be refunded by your office. We also made a credit card payment to your office in the amount of $6,000.00 U.S. dollars which is the equivalent to $7,320.66 in Canadian money. When you refunded the $6,000.00 payment, our credit card was only credited $6,985.12 CAD. I contacted my bank and was told that because the merchant cancelled the service; Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute (the merchant) is responsible to adjust the difference. The difference is $335.54 in Canadian money.
We would like to have the $500.00 deposit refunded because we did call three weeks prior in an effort to reschedule the surgery, as well as the $335.54 CAD because the service was cancelled by you.

To whom it may concern:My name is _________. I am the son of ____________. I am writing to you to let you know the inconvienence my mother and I went threw so she can be treated by you, only to be refused when we arrived.
I called your office when my mother was diagnosed with the flu just as your information booklet instructs. I emailed you and in return you emaild me stating you would be comfortable performing the surgery on my mother. ( attach a copy of the email you sent and the one he returned highlighted where he said he was comfy doing the procedure. Hope you kept it)
My mother and I booked out flight, hotel as well as car rental as soon as we got conformation. We would have still been charged if we didn't show up for the appointment.I feel we should be reimbursed for all of our exspensives for our trip to see you. I feel you should have been professional and called ahead of time to let us know it wasn't going to happen.
It was an inconvience for us to travel all the way from __________ to see you and not have anything done.
Wow this is a hard letter to write. I am sorry that your mother was treated like this. It is unfail of the doctor. I am not sure what type of illness your mother has but have you tried finding a doctor at a Mayo Clinic. They are very professional at everyone no matter what state you travel to. I would get a lawyers advice before you send the letter. Good luck to you and I hope your mom gets the treatment needed.
