Eye Bag Surgery

Marion Said:

hi has anyone removed eye bag by surgery, how much you paid?

We Answered:

Sorry I can't answer this but I just got my top lids done on Friday and since my doctor refered me I only paid $5.00 which is an office visit co-payment.

I can't wait until the stitches come out and the bruising and swelling go away then I will put my new pic up!

How much is eye bag removal surgery?

We Answered:

Hi, hope you wern't giving up on your question being answered!
The fancy term for eye bag removal is Blepharoplasty.
It can be Upper Lid Blepharoplasty or Lower Lid Blepharoplasty..
Age is the most common factor causing these changes to our faces and our genetics contribute too.
Upper eye lids can become loose and sag and start to take on a hooded appearance.
The lower eye area can become pouchy/puffy and you can feel the fatty tissue behind the skin if you poke it. Very often it can be worse on first waking on a morning ecause of water retention overnight.

Usually, this procedure is classed as 'cosmetic' and so done privately.
Very few cases may be involved with a clinical reason where there may be other underlying health issues or other concerns. If this is the case, the optician will evaluate the situation and can refer the patient to their GP and suggest it to be done under the NHS.

Personally in my working career(approx 8 years) I have only ever referred one patient and that was for upper eyelid surgery. This person was in their 70s and the skin was virtually hanging in front of the pupil and thereby impeding the vision.

Privately the costs would vary a fair bit(maybe between £1500-£2500)
I think you are talking about the lower eye area and this is usually done under general anaesthesia. The procedure cost would also vary where you have it done(eg London, Manchester, the firm involved and their reputation) There would be additional costs like provision of a bed for post op recovery till you came round(its not usually overnight),any staff tending to you, transport if you need it, any medication etc...

One thing to bear in mind is that every surgeon will have their own area of expertise. So choose someone who deals with predominantly blepharoplasty procedures, and also request to see a portfolio of their previous work and patient reviews etc

Harley Street in Manchester has a fairly good reputation...ut do your homework!
Hope this helps.

i had eye surgery on monday and i have a big bag under my eye?

We Answered:

Did you have strabismus surgery?

Any time there's ocular surgery, tissues get a bit stretched or deformed by all the pulling and tugging, lid speculum, etc. As the drainage of the orbit is back, though some goes facial, fluids have a problem draining. they'll accumulate in the soft tissues of the orbit, the lid tissues, etc.

Most of the time within a week most of the swelling is down. If you lay down, that'll increase the venous pressure and it'll drain 'slower' because there's increase venous pressure which is ultimately where those fluids drain towards.

You can use ice in a little baggy, but use a washcloth between the plastic and the skin or you'll 'burn' the skin. use it for about 20 minutes 3-4 times a day. Keep your head elevated and it'll go down 'faster'.

do you think i need a nose job or eye bag surgery?

We Answered:

You can get rid of your eye bags at home. You simply have to find the cause of eye bags and eliminate it.
