wow, well first off the people who said those things to you are jerks, don't listen to them. I sorta feel like that sometimes too. I don't have designer clothes or anything but they're decent. And when you're around others who do, you feel like you shouldn't be there or something. Well, even if you do have money, you shouldn't waste it to get better clothes to make other people see you as high class. And when you get another comment like "it's too expensive for you", tell them that they're out of line, because they don't even know you, and it's quite rude.

Plastic surgery would be great, but I've seen way too many of those "Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong" reports on 20/20, etc. and am too terrified to do it. I don't know what "pimp my ride" is exactly, but I think mine is beyond help anyway. We had an "extreme makeover" edition in the area where I live, introducing us all to the Reality of reality television--and I know the contractors and other folks they used...I wouldn't live in that house for fear of having it fall in on my head. Dr. Phil? No thank you. I think I would have a better chance of solving my problems if I discussed them with the neighbors' cat.

Usually there is some kind of discount or incentive, but it's usually not free.

more than likely yes, unless it was some form of insurance settlement, by winning you have gained income, which is taxable. By the way are you sure its not a con, are they asking that you pay some small portion of the bill.
