OK, here is the quick answer. Asthma does increase the risk of general anesthesia. BUT, if we know about it before hand, we give you drugs to have your lung function at its best level. I have anesthetized at least 1000 people with varying degrees of asthma, and all have survived. If your lungs sound bad before surgery, we will postpone the surgery until we feel it is safe.
The endotracheal tube is placed after you go to sleep, so do not worry. As for being breathed for by a machine, every person under general has the breathing controlled by the anesthetist or anesthesiologist. DO NOT worry about that, there are multiple layers of monitoring and back up systems.
You can be given a sedative in the preoperative area to relax you prior to surgery if you are nervous.

I have not had the sinus surgery so that I can not help. As for the other a lot has to do with your age! It is better to have it done when you are a child. I had it done at the age of 17, it was suppose to be a one day thing and I was in there for a week. But my adenoids were hard as a rock so they could not get them out. Like one of the other answers said it all depends on you and your body. Some heal faster than others. Eat ice cream for the first few days then go into soup but stay with the soft things. It is pain full I will not lie to you but you will get better within a few short days. They will give you T3's for pain but only a couple to 4 days worth. You will be fine heck we give birth, now that is pain full!! This is nothing. Good luck!

I don't think so. Those are infections of the nose. Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery is a surgery of the inside of your nose. It corrects any deviations of the nares to help you breathe easier. "Endoscopic" means the surgery is done through a small incision inside of your body. If you wanted to change the size of your nose you should get plastic surgery.
