Hair Loss After Surgery

Willie Said:

Hair loss after gastric bypass?

We Answered:

anyway hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor

nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to

melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a

few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or

sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also I used herbal treatment - TrichoZed
It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

good luck!

Phillip Said:

Is it common to lose hair a few months after surgery?

We Answered:

Not impossible that it's related, but not likely either: at your age, you should have plenty of physical resources to heal from surgery and still keep your hair.

I'd seriously take this to a doctor: Being bald isn't the end fo the world, but it isn't exactly a great thing either, especially at 18. A dermatologist can assess whether this is normal, and suggest a treatment [like rogaine] that will help.

It's said that stopping or slowing hair loss is easier than reversing it, so starting treatment at the first real sign of hair loss is more effective than waiting. Don't know if it's true...

Susan Said:

After gastric bypass, is it safe to color my hair?

We Answered:

It won't harm you, but you should realise that the gastric bypass makes your body think it's starving, so you will be losing a lot of hair. Anything that can stress your hair or scalp will make the temporary hair loss worse, so from that perspective, dying your hair may be bad for it.

Be sure you get 60g of protein a day to assist your hair and keep it from falling out. Don't scratch your scalp, scrub too hard, or wash too much until you get the regrowth. It took about five months for my hair to stop falling out, and at 14 months post surgery, I have it all back.

Shane Said:

Anyone had massive hair loss after a thyroidectomy or on Levoxyl?

We Answered:

It IS temporary ....don't worry !! I started taking Levoxyl over a year ago and freaked out at the hairloss in the beginning as well.
It will take a few months or more to see the difference but it will subside....you will not go bald!!

(By the way, I'm a female with mid-back length hair)
