Jaw Surgery Before And After

Erin Said:

After Jaw surgery Care?

We Answered:

You should have asked your dr these questions, I suggest phone the doc and find out, anyway, pain is normal and will subside after a week or so, just keep the ice on and keep head elevated.

Thomas Said:

How long after jaw surgery would I have to wait before leaving to basic training for the army?

We Answered:

It all depends. You need to let your Recruiter know, and provide copies of all of the documentation from your doctor. He/ She will submit it to MEPS and the doctors there will decide if you will be able to ship on time. If not, then they can push your ship date back as long as it doesn't result in your being in the DEP for more than a year. If that happens, then you will have to go back to MEPS at some point and look at the jobs available for when you can actually ship.

Good Luck.

Jaw Surgery?

We Answered:

if you need one of these options, invisalign will NOT help you, i'm afraid....
you have a SKELETAL problem, and using invisalign will be like putting a fresh coat of paint on a house that needs to be re-habbed....

as far as surgery and pain goes, you can be sedated so you don't remember anything. If you arne' thappy w/ your dentist, or orthodontist, find another that takes the time to address your concerns and talk to you about your options.

as far as before and after...i can't help you. but your dentist should have some pictures! seriously, ask them.

the expander is like a little pain (discomfort really) spread out over a long time.... the surgery would be more pain, but it'd be oever faster PLUS you get the fun of having post operative narcotics like vicodin and percocet....

hope i've helped! take home message: be sure you're comfortable w/ your dentist! you pay them, you deserve to know what's going on and be as pain free as possible.

Jessie Said:

Should I have plastic surgery before or after jaw surgery?

We Answered:

I would recommend the jaw surgery first because the plastic surgeon will be better able to refine your face to your new jaw position. It would be very tricky trying to accurately hold your jaw forward while you are under anesthesia for your plastic surgery. Talk to your surgeons about the best timing for the two surgeries. Probably they will recommend that you wait for the swelling to go away from your first surgery before going for the second.

Robin Said:

Has anyone had jaw surgery before? please read and answer?

print this out and take it to the surgeon. have your questions answered BEFORE the procedure.

Wade Said:

swelling after lower jaw surgery?

We Answered:

It may take few weeks before you can be yourself again.
Maybe you can try doing soft chewing movements (not to fast, only slow movements to massage the jaw a bit so the inflammation can go down).
The pain will stay for a while, so you'll have to deal with it or try pain killers.
