Lung Cancer Surgery
Stephanie Said:
How common is it to develop heart problems after lung surgery? We Answered:
The circulatory system consists of systemic circulation, pulmonary circulation and coronary circulation. If one part of the circulatory system is affected, the other two parts of the circulatory system will bound to fail immediately or later.Only the pulmonologist/ cardiologist can say about the prognosis of the disease with reference to your medical records.

Lung cancer outcome and surgery risks? We Answered:
The body is an amazing machine, if you will. It can tolerate the removal of an organ the one left will compensate for the one lost. The choice is one your relative will have to weigh. What will be the outcome of not having the surgery and what will happen if he/she does? Always get another opinion unless this Dr has treated them before and knows the patient well. No one can know how long anyone will live with or without intervention. I know one of my sister-in-laws lived a long time with only one lung. She was a smoker before the lung was removed and never smoked after that. So, it's hard to say. I do wish your relative the best. God blessMark Said:
What are the chances of lung cancer surgery actually being successful? We Answered:
Surgery is common type of treatment for precancerous stage & early stage of cancer (stage 1-2).About the success rate, it depends on many factors. The doctor would be the one who can assess the success rate because he knows your dad condition very well.
Surgery doesn't guarantee lifetime remission of cancer. Many survivor need to change their way of life by eating healthy food, be positive and avoid stress in their life. It's also important to eat herbs and multivitamins to boost your dad's immune system.

If a person has lung cancer, does surgery on the lung speed up missed cancer cells? We Answered:
When I had lung surgery (non-smoker) from testes metastis cancer, they removed good tissue as well. The easiest way to describe this is to put a nickle on top of a quarter. The nickle is the cancer, the amount of tissue removed is the quarter. It is possible to still spread, so usually the procedure is slow.Brent Said:
Lung cancer surgery gone bad?We Answered:
I am so sorry. I don’t know why this happened - it doesn’t make sense.VA hospitals are well known for giving the worst care of any hospitals in the country and the Federal government often hires doctors who have lost their medical licenses in their own state. It is a horrible same we treat our vets this way

What are the recovery rates of lung surgery for stage IV lung cancer? We Answered:
I agree with Denisedd. If you are planning surgery, your surgeon should be carefully explaining the expected benefits verses the risks of the operation. Your surgeon and medical oncologist and perhaps the radiation oncologist should be discussing your situation as a group to provide all points of view regarding surgery. If you have correctly listed your lung carcinoma as stage IV - widespread disease - the doctors must consider where else you have disease and how much benefit you might gain from a partial lung resection.
Your doctors know the details of your case which you do not provide for us.
What was the initial stage?
What was the histopathology - the type of lung cancer?
Where has it spread?
What treatments have already been tried?
What is the tumor volume - roughly estimated?
We should not be offering advice at this distance with so little information.
We don't even know your age?
