Plastic Reconstructive Surgery

Alfred Said:

does the UCLA has the plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery specialization?

We Answered:

That's something you study after 8 years of college (bachelors and med school) and 5 years of general surgical residency, not after high school. You've got 13 years of college and studying before you can start looking for those programs. You can take the premed classes at any 4-year college or university.

Don Said:

Plastic reconstructive surgery for loose skin after weight loss?

We Answered:

I want one too! Abdominoplasty is what I think it's called. My mom had one and I never even knew. She did it one day while I was at school and a couple months later I saw her stomach and said "Hey, the baby bag went away!". She was never even in bed or anything

Nicholas Said:

Plastic Reconstructive Surgery?

We Answered:

Maybe you should try to consider the scar as a badge of honor. I understand that you're grateful to still have your leg, but SHOW that you're grateful. And when people ask, calmly, in a matter-of-fact kind of voice, give them a sentence long answer. And when you catch people staring, give them one of those "What?!" looks. I have a big scar near my elbow from a surgery, and I usually quickly respond. People are just curious and some people don't know how to handle their curiousity. I think of my scar as a physical memory I'll always have. But if you really want to try a surgery, why don't you see your doctor? He or she would know better than most of the answerers on here. Good luck!

Lester Said:

i want to become a reconstructive surgeon do i also have to do the plastic surgery part like new nose and stuf

We Answered:

Going to Med School, you'll have to go thru the entire scope of what Doctors need to study, now as you go towards your specialty, the nose job part would fall under reconstructive surgeon, as an intern, depending who your working under you maybe involved in the comestic part but, as you go past your internship, you can choose to specialize on burn victims, some Hospitals or burn centers do just that and thats where I recommend you look for. Like any career, you need to choose the paths that your interested in.

Georgia Said:

Is reconstructive surgery part of plastic surgery?!?!?!?!?

We Answered:

Yes it is. I think the "banned" kind of plastic surgery that you are talking about is cosmetic (lipo, nose jobs, boob jobs, etc.) Reconstructive surgery is for things like battered women, car accident victims, things that happened which distorts a persons face.
