Shoulder Replacement Surgery Recovery

Christina Said:

I have been told i have late stage syphilis What to expect.?

We Answered:

Syphilis is curable at any stage. I don't know why your doctor wants to see you. He might think you need additional treatment, or you might be completely cured but he doesn't give test results over the phone. In any case, don't worry-- you're going to be fine.

Geraldine Said:

Is this legal?

We Answered:

Here is a link to the Medical Leave Act, which is the best place to find information on that.

Good luck to you and I hope your mother gets better at some point.

Elbow surgery recovery? (Radial head replacement)?

We Answered:

Sorry for your ordeal. I believe the cast will come off in 6 weeks and you will begin physio therapy. If you are having an excessive amount of pain your arm may be swelling against the cast and you should let your doctor or casting place know as they may need to remove the cast to make sure your blood flow is moving through properly. You could try icing your shoulder and the cast it may not go through the cast but it might cool things down. I want you to check your fingers to see if they are pale and pinch your nails until they go white and check to see when you release pressure on them that the blood flow returns to normal quickly and this should happen within a few seconds and if it does not you could have a blood flow problem and it may be a medical emergency. If this looks good, and you are still having a great deal of pain I am sure your doctor will prescribe you something stronger for pain if you need it. It is not good to be in pain too long, as it will effect your eating and sleeping and therefore your recovery. Your doctors and nurses advice is vague because they don't want to be sued if they are wrong and recovery times vary between clients and you will need x-rays to show them that the recovery is complete enough to have the cast removed, but generally it is in 6 weeks. Also please check your body temperature as this could be elevated if you have infection setting it and if you have an elevated temperature let the doctors know.
I hope this helps.

How long does it take to be pain free after Shoulder Replacement Surgery?

We Answered:

Someone I know is at about 8 weeks from shoulder surgery. He is still in pain. The shoulders take a long time to heal. Make sure you get your 8 hours of sleep each day. I had a shoulder injury I was in pain for about 2 months. Now I just don't use my shoulders anymore...so I haven't been in pain since.

don't do anything reaching overhead.

How painful is the recovery after Knee Replacement?

We Answered:

my knee replacement was uncomfortable. i was in the hospital two days. i got into my car with a little help. i was on pain pills for a week regularly. it,s a nuisance. i started rehab a week later. i was on a walker for about two weeks. a cane for a few days after that. the reliance on pain pills diminished over two months. i did take a pain pill before each therapy session. i got my surgery on 6/15/09. i,ve never regretted getting it.

on disability and being laid off.?

We Answered:

When you apply for unemployment, the unemployment office contacts your last employer to see if they want to contest your claim. If the company wants to contest, they can inform unemployment that they did offer you a job, which you declined - that would make you ineligible. However, if they decide not to contest it, then there would be no problem. In this situation it depends on your relationship with the company and how they want to handle it. In some cases, it is not worth the company's time and expense to contest, so they don't bother. I suggest that you go ahead and apply, and wait to see what the company does. You may be declined, but if you don't apply, you definitely won't collect.
