I have never heard of anyone developing negative habits after having gastric bypass surgery. The only thing I can think of is that they may be replacing a dependence on food with some other negative thing. Seems pretty stupid for someone to go through the surgery and lose weight with the idea of being healthier only to start smoking or drinking excessively. I think they need some psychiatric assistance to deal with this. I've only known people, like Baa Baa's husband, who develop habits consistant with a healthier lifestyle.

And a question: why would anyone have a lap band done in order to have it removed later on? That is just a stupid thing that proves a person is NOT ready for any sort of surgical intervention to lose weight, because it sounds like "Great, I'll get this lap band, lose weight, then get it removed and eat the same way I did before!" Totally, totally wrong! ANY BARIATRIC PROCEDURE - INCLUDING THE LAP BAND - SHOULD BE CONSIDERED PERMANENT AND IRREVERSIBLE!
