Upper Eyelid Surgery

Francis Said:

What is your experience with having eyelid surgery?

We Answered:

I had eyelid surgery 4 times.
Mine wasn't for cosmetic reasons - I was born with a droopy eyelid and it needed to be fixed.

I agree with the above comment - the surgeon is everything.
It took me 4 tries to get it right.

As for the recovery - a week is a bit short.
I didn't have any bruising the next day, but the second day it started. It lasted closer to two weeks. Lots of vitamin C can help speed that up.

Good luck!

Neil Said:

what can go wrong with upper eyelid plastic surgery?

We Answered:

Retrobulbar hematoma - (bleeding behind the eye) - rare, but can cause loss of vision
Temporary problems with excessive tearing
Decreased sensation in the eyelid
Dryness, burning, stinging, gritty sensation in your eye(s)
Prominence or firmness of the scars
Asymmetry in healing or scarring
Milia or whiteheads where the sutures emanate from the skin.
Difficulty closing their eyes completely; in rare cases, this condition may be permanent. Further surgery may correct this problem.

Alicia Said:

Has anyone ever had upper eyelid surgery?

We Answered:

The healing time is usually 7 - 10 days. There should not be any scarring. I did it 10 years ago and have never regretted it a day since then. It took away that tired look and gave me a more refreshing and youthful appearance.

10 days ago I had upper and lower eyelid surgery. Looks like fluid pockets formed under eyes. normal??

We Answered:

I couldn't tell you if its normal or not. But I'm sure it happens.

Just go back to the Dr. tell them of whats happening and they will probably drain them and send you on your way.

I'm sure it a common thing, just make sure you call the doctor to find out for sure.

I'm having upper eyelid surgery on Monday. Have you had this done? What was your experience? Recovery time?

We Answered:

I know a guy who had it done. He didn't seem to complain too much about the pain, and he was only swollen for about a week. He looks really great now, as well! Just make sure you follow your surgeon's instructions carefully. Taking ibuprofen helped me when I had plastic surgery; it keeps swelling down fairly well. Good luck.

Edwin Said:

How long is the swelliing time for my upper eyelid surgery going to last?

We Answered:

Can you ask your Surgeon or a member of his team? They should be able to advise you about this.
