In all honesty, most guys don't care what it looks like. If you're doing this at the request of a partner, dump him. A guy that truly loves you will not care how you look down there. If it's a self esteem issue, I really don't know how to help. I can say, however, guys are upsessed with the size of their penis, and you may find that a bit strange. And we don't care what your vagina looks like, nor do we care how big your boobs/butt is(it's true). We just like feeling them. No matter how small. Don't change, there's no need. I disagree with you that all cosmetic surgery is elective.

I know a man who lost his nose to frostbite and actually had the outer part of his nose amputated. Now he was so repulsive to look at he couldn't function in society or even get a job. His appearance was a huge distraction to everyone around him. He needed a prosthetic nose and his greedy insurance company threw him under the bus.

I was very self concious about this when I was younger too, until I was with a few guys and none of them had a problem with it, and actually seemd to enjoy my lips! I don't worry about it any more.

I agree with "sandi" and "lastnight". It is wrong to have surgery for just cosmetic reasons. Possibly if the labia minora is very large and makes you uncomfortable, then it may be an option.

The other thing -- Neither of the operations are "Vaginal" surgery. THEY ARE GENITAL surgery. PLEASE use the correct terms.
